Infertility Signs to Look Out For
When you and your partner are trying to conceive a child, it can be particularly frustrating when you go through months of regular intercourse and still are not able to become pregnant. Unfortunately, infertility is a symptom that can plague both men and women equally, and it affects as much as 12 percent of all couples. Do you know the infertility signs to look out for?
Knowing the possible signs of infertility can help you determine when something might be wrong so that you can get checked out by a medical professional.
Irregular Period Occurrence
A common indicator of whether or not something is wrong with a woman’s body, including possible infertility issues, is the frequency and type of her periods. There is a reason why a woman having her period is referred to as her “time of the month,” and this reason is that a normal cycle is usually fairly predictable. Not every woman is the same, and period cycles can range anywhere from 21-35 days.
This can make it hard to figure out if you are normal or not because that is such a wide window of days. However, what you should be focused on more than how many days your cycle lasts is how consistent it is. Periods that are also either incredibly painful or heavy can also be cause for concern and might warrant a visit to the doctor’s office.
If you ever experience a time where you do not have a period for several months in a row and yet you do not test positive for pregnancy, then it could also indicate infertility issues.
Changes in Ability to Complete Intercourse
One of the most obvious signs that infertility may have stricken a man are indicators that relate to their ability to have sex. If your man appears to never even want to have sex, then that can be a bad sign, not only because it will obviously limit how often you have intercourse and therefore lower your chances of getting pregnant, but also because it can be a result of hormone changes that are a symptom of infertility.
Even if he is more than willing to have sex, that doesn’t necessarily mean you are in the clear. Trouble maintaining an erection or ejaculating could also be indicators that something is wrong with his body and he may need some kind of medical assistance.
If you are seeing any of these signs in either you or your partner or you have any other reason to suspect that you may suffer from infertility, then it is a good idea to talk to a fertility specialist as soon as possible.
